On the show floor at NAB 2013 in Las Vegas, Cliff Joyce of PureBlend Software Design Group shows off the power of MovieSlate, an iPad app that looks like a clapperboard, but does so much more. As a digital slate, it excels, but if you look deeper, you will shot logging capabilities, a notepad, and optional support for Timecode, multi cam, audio and more. Cliff talks about all of these functions, the history of the app, how it started as a tool just for him, and how it grew to something much more sophisticated. Cliff also gives us something of a scoop about the next improvement to the app, MovieSlate Cloud, a way to upload your shot logs and other metadata captured by MovieSlate to a cloud location for ingestion to production systems.
